re. 1. - I'm sure I saw somewhere in Edd's docs that the material
would aim to be processable by regular XML tools. I took that to mean
encouraging the use of the abbreviated syntax form as found in the
examples (or being even more restrictive like RSS 1.0). But I could
well be wrong.
[Come to think of it, isn't that the assumption made in your XSLT?]

re. 3. I meant essentially the inverse transform to that you've done.

I'm hypothesizing that this trick might be useful for GRDDLing
purposes. Again, I could well be wrong ;-)
