FOAF vs VCards

Can someone explain how the Vcard rdf representation differs from the
FOAF project? It seems to me that FOAF provides more implicit
connectives for linking friends together, but would it be preferable in
a project to link in the Vcard syntax rather than relying strictly on
FOAF:Name and so on?
