OK, I have recompiled and reinstalled

bluez-libs-2.4
bluez-pan-1.1
bluez-sdp-1.4
bluez-utils-2.3
openobex-1.0.0
openobex-apps-1.0.0
libbtctl-0.3
gnome-bluetooth-0.4.1

with your suggested settings.
I'm still getting that error, though.

Is the BT Manager part of libbtctl or gnome-bluetooth, or is it one of
the other parts that these depend on? I'm just trying to figure out
where to start looking for the problem.

Cheers,
KEv.
