Thanks, that was missing.

In case we have further Fedora Core 2 users (FC2) on the list, there is 
also a known bug that FC2 omits the /dev/rfcomm* devices. 
(http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=88802)

I have added them and added entries to /etc/security/console.perms and 
it's much better.
