[gnome-bluetooth] bluetooth-applet discontinued?

No, the bluetooth-applet was only used in GNOME Fallback which got
removed in GNOME 3.8. Either use an older version of gnome-bluetooth, or
use something like blueman instead.

Or, even better, use GNOME 3 with builtin Bluetooth support :)
