I'm just here for the "text" part of hypertext--it's certainly a
welcome break from "object serialization" and "Web Services".

I think the promise of XML and hypertext is an expansion of the HTML
linking mechanisms to something a bit more interesting (multi-ended
links and linkbases, perhaps).
